What is World Thinking Day?
As a Girl Scout, you are part of a special network of girls that stretches across the world. In February of each year, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from 146 countries celebrate World Thinking Day (WTD). Although officially World Thinking Day is February 22nd, Girl Scouts in the Minneapolis Lakes Service Unit typically celebrate it on the first Saturday following February 22nd.
In 2016, Minneapolis Lakes had over 100 girls participate in our World Thinking Day celebration.
How can a Troop participate in Minneapolis Lakes’ World Thinking Day Celebration?
- Decide whether your troop would like to be a “tourist” or a “hosting country”.
- A “hosting country” troop selects their top three choices for countries from anywhere around the world and sends them into the service unit. The World Thinking Day Event Manager lets the troop know which of their top 3 choices are available.
Register your troop by December 31st.THIS EVENT IS FULL.
- The troop then puts together a poster board of interesting facts about their country and selects a typical food and/or activity from the country to share.
Troop 15333 Showcases India during World Thinking Day 2016. They chose Mehndi as an activity to share with girls from other troops.
“Tourists” and “Host Countries” alike receive passports to visit all the booths during World Thinking Day.
